Change the size of the grid results view in SSMS1
March 4, 2020 by Kenneth Fisher
After my post last month about configuring your tools I’ve been on a make my life easier kick and one of the things that gives me grief every day is that my eyesight is at best mediocre and some days it’s worse than others. (I have issues. No, not just those issues, issues that effect my eye sight.) I’m in SSMS 90% of my day or more so it really helps that it’s easy to zoom in and out on the query window, and even the message results pane. There is a little box with a percentage in the bottom left corner of each of the two panes. This controls the font size of that pane.
You can click on the down arrow to change the percentage, click on the number to type a percentage or even change it using the mouse wheel. All of that said, none of it helps with the Grid Results pane. And for years I’ve never found a way to change the font size there. I’m pretty sure the option didn’t exist and it was just recently added to SSMS or maybe I just hadn’t found it. That said, I found it!. I’m using SSMS 18.2 so it’s at least in that version and up.
In the Tools -> Options window go to the Fonts and Colors tab. Then under Show Settings for: select Grid Results. From there you can change the font to whatever is most comfortable for you.
Yay my poor aching eyes! 🙂
